Supervised the construction of and designed many new showrooms at the Washington Design Center.
Engineering Projects Director 1985-1989
Directed $175M renovation of the one of the world’s largest commercial buildings, the 4.2 MSF Merchandise Mart, and the 1.8 MSF Apparel Center in Chicago, IL while nearly fully occupied with work including new roofing, windows, HVAC, restoration of stone façade, new boilers, plumbing, elevators, electrical, addition of a pedestrian bridge and conversion of first two floors to a retail mall; designed and installed world’s largest thermal ice storage cooling system; estimated budget; selected architects and engineers; supervised design, bidding, award, contract negotiation, scheduling, construction, inspection and cost accounting.

Managed and supervised design and construction of the $25,000,000 conversion of and an addition to an abandoned refrigerated warehouse in SW Washington DC into the Washington Design Center; supervised design and build-out of 114 display showrooms.
